REVIEW: One of a series of DVDs recorded at Little Darlin’s, the premier Oldies night club in Kissimee, Florida which operated from 1986–1992 presenting the Living Legends of Rock’n’Roll which were shown on television and helped revive the flagging careers of many of the rock’n’roll legends such as Del Shannon, Tommy Sands, Ray Peterson, Bobby Vee, Tommy Roe, The Diamonds, The Original Juniors, Bryan Hyland, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Knox and many, many more. The shows were recorded live in front of an audience with plenty of space for the fans to jive away to the music of the ‘50s and early ‘60s. Die hard rock’n’roll fans are often critical of these type of programs generally being a little unkind to the performances of the artists presented here but the general rock’n’roll fans were appreciative of the shows as it did give them a chance to relive the days of rock’n’roll and it did give the rock’n’roll fans the chance to see some of the rock’n’roll legends which they may have missed seeing back in the rock’n’roll era or perhaps were too young like myself to experience rock’n’roll concerts and discovered rock’n’roll when the music was waning. The programs were recorded professionally so the visual and audio quality is excellent. A three DVD boxset of the shows has been around for some years but most of the performances here are not featured on the set so if you have that boxset then these are a worthy addition to your collection.
