REVIEW: Nile Rodgers together with bassist Bernard Edwards formed the Big Apple Band in 1972, later changing the group’s name to Chic. Chic released their self-titled debut album in 1977, it featured the hit singles "Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)" and "Everybody Dance". Their 1978 album C'est Chic included "I Want Your Love" and "Le Freak", with the latter selling more than seven million singles worldwide. The song "Good Times" from the 1979 album Risque was a number one single on the pop and soul charts, and became one of the most-sampled songs of all time, predominantly in hip-hop.
Chic is regarded as one of the top disco bands to emerge from the Studio 54 scene in the late 1970s. On July 17, 2004 the legendary Nile Rodgers and Chic brought their infectious grooves to the Montreux Festival. Raising the crowd to their feet with a spectacular show that brought the ‘70s back for one night, Nile Rodgers and Chic deliver a high-energy set that includes their Top Ten hits “Everybody Dance”, “Le Freak” and “Dance Dance Dance (Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah)”. Great trip back to the Disco era ****
