ON OCTOBER 16TH 1951, FOUR YEARS BEFORE LITTLE RICHARD RECORDED "TUTTI FRUTTI" FOR THE SPECIALTY LABEL, HE RECORDED TWO SESSIONS FOR RCA RECORDS. ON THE FIRST SESSION HE CUT "GET RICH QUICK", "WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME", "TAXI BLUES" AND "EVERY HOUR". THE LATTER TWO TITLES WERE COUPLED TOGETHER AND RELEASED ON RCA 4372. "EVERY HOUR" BECAME A HIT IN THE ATLANTA AREA BUT FAILED TO CHART NATIONALLY. ON JANUARY 12TH, 1952, HE CUT THE REMAINING FOUR NUMBERS ON SIDE 1 OF THIS ALBUM. THEY WERE RELEASED AS FOLLOWS, "GET RICH QUICK" B/W "THINKIN' 'BOUT MY BABY" (RCA 4582), "WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME" B/W "AIN'T NOTHIN' HAPPENIN'" (RCA 4772) AND "I BROUGHT IT ON MYSELF" B/W "PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON ME" (RCA 5052. NONE MADE ANY IMPRESSION ON THE RECORD BUYING PUBLIC AND RCA DROPPED RICHARD FROM THEIR ROSTER.
BOOTS BROWN WAS PSEUDONYM ADOPTED BY WEST COAST TRUMPET PLAYER SHORTY ROGERS FOR A SERIES OF RECORDINGS HE MADE IN THE FIFTIES FOR THE GROOVE LABEL, A SHORT-LIVED SUBSIDIARY OF RCA VICTOR SET UP TO COMPETE IN THE NEWLY EMERGING RHYTHM AND BLUES MARKET. THE BOOTS BROWN TITLES ON SIDE TWO OF THIS ALBUM WERE RELEASED ON ONE SIDE OF A GROOVE LP COUPLED WITH RECORDINGS BY DAN DREW'S DAREDEVILS.
THE SLEEVE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY MINOR SHELF WEAR ALONG THE EDGES AND CORNERS ALONG WITH A COUPLE OF MINOR CREASES. THERE IS HARDLY A MARK ON THE REAR OF THE SLEEVE. THE RECORD IS IN VIRTUALLY MINT CONDITION. A GREAT LOOK AT THE EARLY CAREER OF LITTLE RICHARD.
