BOBBY GLYNN LUMAN BEGAN HIS CAREER AS A ROCKABILLY IN THE ROCKABILLY ERA AND THIS UNSHAKEABLE INFLUENCE NEVER LEFT HIM. HIS FIRST RECORDINGS, SIX CUTS FOR DALLAS SONGWRITER, JIM SHELL, REMAINED UNISSUED UNTIL THE ROCKABILLY REVIVAL OF THE 1970s. IN 1956, BOB SIGNED WITH THE IMPERIAL LABEL. ONE OF THE TRACKS FROM THAT TENURE WITH IMPERIAL, "RED HOT", IS REGARDED AS AN ALL-TIME CLASSIC. BOB LATER SIGNED WITH WARNER BROS. AND RECORDED SEVERAL SIDES OF WHICH MANY WERE NEVER RELEASED AT THE TIME AND OTHERS MADE VERY LITTLE IMPRESSION ON THE CHARTS.

BOB'S BIG BREAKTHROUGH CAME IN 1960 WHEN HE WAS INTRODUCED TO PRODUCER WESLEY ROSE BY THE EVERLY BROTHERS. BOB WAS PERSUADED TO RECORD "LET'S THINK ABOUT LIVING" BY BOUDLEAUX AND FELICE BRYANT. IT HAS OFTEN BEEN REPORTED THAT BOB HATED THE SONG BUT BOWED TO PRESSURE AND, AS THEY SAY, THE REST IS HISTORY. THE SONG SHOT UP THE POP AND COUNTRY CHARTS. BOB LUMAN HAD ARRIVED ALTHOUGH HE HAD VERY LITTLE OPPORTUNITY TO BATHE IN THE GLORY AS UNCLE SAM CAME CALLING AND BOB FOUND HIMSELF SERVING IN GERMANY WHEN HIS FOLLOW-UP, "WHY WHY, BYE BYE", WAS RELEASED. UPON HIS DISCHARGE FROM THE ARMY IN 1962 BOB MOVED TO NASHVILLE ON A PERMANENT BASIS AND FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED WITH COUNTRY MUSIC. BOB DIED OF PNEUMONIA ON 27 DECEMBER, 1978.

THIS ALBUM BY BEAR FAMILY IS THE FIRST IN A TRILOGY OF BOB'S OUTPUT FROM HIS TENURE WITH WARNER BROS. AND LATER HICKORY RECORDS AND CONTAINS SEVERAL ABSOLUTE CLASSIC ROCKING POP RECORDINGS WHICH WAS NEVER FAR FROM HIS HEART ALONG WITH SOME GREAT BALLADS. THE SLEEVE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION SHOWING VERY LITTLE SIGNS OF WEAR AND THE RECORD IS NEAR MINT CONDITION.

TRACK LISTING: Side 1 - Loretta / I Love You Because / Private Eye / Everytime The World Goes Round / Buttercup / Boston Rocker / Why Why, Bye Bye / Meet Mister Mud. Side 2 - Class Of '59 / You're Like A Stranger In My Arms / Dreamy Doll / You've Turned Down The Lights / You're Everything / Belonging To You / I Love You So Much It Hurts / Rock Of Reno.
