FREDDY CANNON (FREDERICK ANTHONY PICARIELLO JR.) IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS THE "LAST OF THE ROCKERS". HIS RECORDING CAREER BEGAN IN 1959 WITH HE RELEASE OF THE SELF-PENNED ROCKER "TALLAHASSEE LASSIE" RELEASED ON THE SWAN LABEL WHICH PEAKED AT NO. 6 ON THE U.S. CHARTS ON MAY 17, 1959, ALTHOUGH THE CREDITS FOR WRITING THE SONG FIRMLY LAY WITH BOB CREWE AND FRANK SLAY WHO RECEIVED THE DEMO OF THE SONG AND WERE IMMEDIATELY EXCITED BY FREDDY'S RAW AND RAUCOUS STYLE AND SCOUTED THE RECORD LABELS FOR A DEAL WITH IT EVENTUALLY BEING PICKED UP BY SWAN AFTER BEING ON ICE FOR SIX MONTHS.

OVER THE NEXT SEVEN YEARS FREDDY MADE THE TOP 100 CHARTS ON NO LESS THAN SIXTEEN OCCASIONS WITH SONGS SUCH AS "WAY DOWN YONDER IN NEW ORLEANS" (#3 IN 1959), "PALISADES PARK" (#3 IN 1962), "TEEN QUEEN OF THE WEEK" (#92 IN 1962), "TRANSISTOR SISTER" (#35 IN 1961), "IF YOU WERE A ROCK & ROLL RECORD" (#67 IN 1962), ALL INCLUDED ON THIS RELEASE AND MANY OTHER UNFORGETTABLE UNMISTAKABLY FREDDY CANNON RECORDINGS.

THIS ALBUM IS A 198O REISSUE BY GERMANY'S LOLLIPOP RECORDS OF THE ORIGINAL SWAN RECORDS RELEASE. THE SLEEVE IS A HEAVY DUTY CARDBOARD SLEEVE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH VIRTUALLY NO SIGNS OF WEAR INCLUDING NO RING-WEAR. THE RECORD IS ALSO VIRTUALLY MINT CONDITION.
