Cat. No. 2640: THE CRICKETS ~ PLEASE DON'T EVER CHANGE. JASMINE JASCD939. (IMPORT)
AFTER BUDDY HOLLY SPLIT WITH JERRY ALLISON AND JOE MAULDIN A NEW GROUP OF CRICKETS EMERGED ON THE SCENE. THERE WAS AN ARRAY OF BAND MEMBERS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS BUT EVENTUALLY THE LINE-UP (AND THE ONE MAINLY FEATURED HERE) WAS JERRY NAYLOR ON LEAD VOCALS, SONNY CURTIS, JERRY ALLISON AND GLEN D. HARDIN. THE CRICKETS STYLE HAD DRIFTED MORE TOWARDS THE POP SOUND EMANATING FROM THE DEMISE OF ROCK’N’ROLL. MANY OF THE TRACKS FEATURED ON THIS ALBUM CAME FROM THE NEW CRICKETS FIRST LP FOR LIBERTY RECORDS (WHO THEY WERE THEN SIGNED TO) TITLED “SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BLUE, SOMETHING ELSE”. ALSO FEATURED ARE TWO TRACKS BY BOBBY VEE AND THE CRICKETS, A COUPLE OF TRACKS CREDITED TO THE CAMPS (A PSEUDONYM OF THE CRICKETS), A COUPLE BY THE RAIDERS FEATURING TOMMY ALLSUP AND JERRY ALLISON, FOUR JERRY NAYLOR SOLO TRACKS AND FINISHES OFF WITH A TRACK BY DANNY AND GWEN (JERRY NAYLOR AND VICKI CARR). GOOD EARLY ‘60s POP ****
