THE NAME JOHN LEE HOOKER IS SYNONYMOUS WITH BLUES MUSIC. BORN IN CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI HOOKER STARTED PERFORMING WITH HIS FATHER AT LOCAL DANCES AT THE TENDER AGE OF 12. IN 1943, HAVING MARRIED AND MOVED TO DETROIT, HE TOOK ON WORK AT THE DODGE CAR FACTORY AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY TO THE FORD CAR FACTORY IN 1948 AND IT WAS THERE THAT HE CAME TO THE ATTENTION OF ELMER BARBEE, A LOCAL RECORD STORE OWNER, WHILST PERFORMING AT "HENRY'S SWING CLUB" WHO POINTED HIM OUT TO BERNIE BESMAN OWNER OF SENSATION RECORDS. IN 1948, UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF BESMAN, HOOKER MADE HIS FIRST RECORDINGS FOR MODERN RECORDS FROM WHICH "BOOGIE CHILLEN" STANDS OUT AND WENT ON TO SELL A MIILION COPIES. HE FOLLOWED UP WITH "HOBO BLUES" IN 1949 AND FURTHER HITS FOLLOWED. PROBABLY HIS BEST KNOWN RECORDING IS "BOOM BOOM".

THIS ALBUM IS RELEASED BY THE ITALIAN COMPANY SARABANDAS SRL IN 1989 AND CONTAINS A GREAT CROSS-SECTION OF JOHN LEE HOOKER'S WORK INCLUDING THE AFOREMENTIONED "BOOGIE CHILLEN" AND "HOBO BLUES". THE SLEEVE IS HEAVY DUTY CARDBOARD AND IS IN VIRTUALLY MINT CONDITION AS IS THE RECORD.
