Cat. No. 2731: LONNIE LEE ~ BACK TO BASE X. STARLITE RECORDS ST840.
TO CELEBRATE HIS 60 YEARS OF RECORDING, LONNIE LEE DECIDED TO RELEASE THIS ALBUM WHICH INCLUDES SOME NEW SONGS WRITTEN AND RECORDED IN THE STYLE OF THE ‘50s AND ‘60s. LONNIE WAS GIVEN ORIGINAL SONGS BY TWO OF THE MOST PROLIFIC SONGWRITERS OF THE ROCK’N’ROLL ERA, JOHN MARASCALCO AND OTIS BLACKWELL. THESE SIX SONGS HAD NEVER BEEN RECORDED BEFORE. TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT, LONNIE ALSO SPECIFICALLY WROTE FOUR NEW SONGS IN THAT STYLE, AND DUE TO REQUESTS, ADDED SONGS FROM HIS SHOWS. TO ENSURE THIS ALBUM RETAINS ITS AUTHENTIC STYLE, IT HAS BEEN RECORDED WITH THE MINIMUM USE OF MODERN FACILITIES, HENCE IT RETAINS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, THOSE EARLY SOUNDS OF ROCKABILLY. THE RESULT IS AN ALBUM THAT FROM THE FIRST TRACK WILL TAKE YOU BACK TO THE DANCE FLOOR AND KEEP YOU ON IT. LONNIE LEE STILL PERFORMS TODAY TO PACKED HOUSES AND PUTS ON A SHOW WHICH BELIES HIS AGE AND HE STILL HAS A GREAT VOICE TO GO ALONG WITH IT. ALL IN ALL, A GREAT ALBUM WHICH SOUNDS LIKE IT CAME STRAIGHT OUT OF THE 1950s ****
